The Nebo Mycro head torch is a rechargeable unit that can be used with the included headband, or individually using the clip on the back which allows for easy attachment to the peak of a cap.

The central white LED outputs a bright beam of 400 lumens on the turbo output, which is designed as a boost setting, allowing 30 seconds output at a time in order to prevent the temperature of the torch becoming too high and thus protecting the LED. The high output is a constant setting of 150 lumens that lasts for 1 hours and two other white brightness settings are also available. Two side LEDs sit either side of the main LED and offer a 10 lumen green and red output.

The torch is operated with the push button at the side of the light, with each press cycling through high, mid, low, green, red and off. If the torch is in any mode for longer than 8 seconds then the next press will turn the light off rather than cycling through the modes. Turbo is activated by holding down the button while the torch is on and will last for 30 seconds before reverting to the previous mode, or quicker by pressing the button again. All modes except turbo have a memory recall feature, so the light will turn back on in the last used brightness output.

The torch can also be instantly activated in the red setting by holding the button down with the light off, and the light will then cycle the modes backwards in the order of red, green, low, mid and high if the button is pressed within 8 seconds. This is useful for preserving the eye's natural night vision and handy if you are in a situation where a low light level is required, such as when camping and not wanting to disturb others. Any time the torch changes brightness it will do so gradually which is easier on the eyes and also helps to preserve battery life.

It is powered by the built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which is recharged inside the torch via the micro USB port that can be revealed by lifting the silicone dust cover on the opposite side of the torch to the button. The supplied cable is plugged into the micro USB port and then connected to a standard USB port or USB adaptor. The side LEDs light up as the charging indicator and will go red while charging is in progress then turn green once charging is complete. Be sure to replace the silicone cover to protect the micro USB port for dust and water ingress.
