Holt stainless steel dome nuts are common place in marine and offshore applications and have many uses such as an aesthetic cover or an anti-snagging cover for the end of bolts, threaded rods and machine screws.
Other uses can be found in architectural metalwork, classic cars, petrochemical industry and swimming pools.
Holt dome nuts are made from AISI 316 stainless steel the second most common grade (after 304); it is also known as marine grade stainless steel due to its increased resistance to chloride corrosion compared to type 304. It is also used for food and surgical stainless steel uses due to the alloy addition of molybdenum that prevents specific forms of corrosion. AISI 316 is also often used for building nuclear reprocessing plants.
